TV Guide: What’s to come on the fourth season of New Girl
THE NEW GIRL gang is single and ready to mingle as the comedy heads into its fourth season.
Executive producer Brett Baer promises “a lot of hooking up and growing up”, and he also notes that exes Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) won’t be getting back together anytime soon. “They’re super committed to just being supportive of one another and moving forward in different directions.”
To get herself back on the market, Jess enlists Schmidt (Max Greenfield) to introduce her to the world of phone-app dating. “She wants to be like Schmidt and get a little street savvy”, Baer says. But her entusiasm lands her in hot water with Nick in the October 7 episode when she starts dating a man with a small…member. “Nick think she’s as superficial as the guys, so they make a bet to see if Jess can last a month with this person,” Baer says. “There are a few twists that make it more challenging than Jess had expected.”
As the season progresses, look for Jess to eventually begin another serious relationship with a fellow teacher from school (Once Upon A Time’s Julian Morris). The roommates will also take a two-episode journey to her home state of Oregon, says Baer of the fourth year: “The group dynamic of the show is in full force.”
